I am driving an electric pickup truck converted by Steve Clunn. Soon after the 9/11 tragedy I made up my mind to become the owner of an electric vehicle. The first thing you'll notice about an EV is how the motor is very quiet and when you stop at intersections it is not running. I drive it 30 to 50 miles a day averaging 40mph at a top speed of 65mph. At the end of the day I plug it into a regular 110 outlet and forget about it until the next morning.I can also plug into a 220 dryer outlet this is three timesfaster charging in about two or three hours.

It has 20 x 6volt deep cycle golf cart batteries that need to have water added about every six weeks. Before owning this EV the repair and maintenance cost of my gas vehicle were very high. The basic mechanics of this pickup truck is an electric motor, accelerator, controller and a battery pack instead of a internal combustion engine and its parts: pistons, carburetor, gas lines and tank, spark plugs, sensors, radiator, pumps, hoses etc. a lot of things breakdown on an internal combustion engine and the oil and spark plugs need to be changed often. You do have to change the batteries in an EV about every three to four years but just counting the money you save on gas not even counting what you save on maintenance and repairs will more than pay for this. By the time you have gone 70,000 non gas guzzling miles the money you save will be more than you paid for the EV. You can expect an electric motor to last over a million miles compared to a gas engine that will only run a little over 150 thousand miles before you have to do major repairs. An EV can pay for itself five to ten times when compared to the average internal combustion engine. Electric vehicles are literally very cool and may be a major factor in combating air and water pollution. We know that this is very important for our environment and future generations. This is why Grassroots Electric Vehicle Club is helping as many people as possible convert from gas powered vehicles to electric. The gas powered transportation system has been leaking oil into our water and poisonous exhaust into the air we breathe and this is causing health problems, carbon monoxide exhaust and gas fumes can be deadly and may be adversely affecting your health now. www.GrassrootsEV.com shows you how you can afford to own and benefit by commuting in an EV, joining this movement toward the cleaner electric mode of transportation. We offer for sale EV conversions and all the parts and literature a person needs to convert a vehicle to electric or we can do the work for you. I am proud to drive an electric vehicle knowing that I am not contributing too many of the problems America is facing today because of its dependence on oil. America needs you to join this grassroots progress like thousands of other patriotic Americans. It has been over two years since this truck has been converted there have been some improvements in the new electronics and our techniques have advanced from the back yard into a CNC machine shop. Your EV can have major improvements over this one. So please consider this option the next time you are making major transportation decisions.
