Letter from
the President of the Grassroots EV Corporation: Steve
Clunn
May 17, 2009
My President’s letter is long over due, with good cause. In
my last letter, I had just acquired a new work place, “the GREENSHED”.
Over the last 3 years the Green Shed is now a viable full time
business. It has been a bumpy ride, gas prices going way up
and then bottoming out, but we have been able to weather the
storm and stay focused on starting conversion shops around the
country. Several new shops have opened and are prospering. We
have met several conversionists over the past year who are doing
a remarkable job. Additionally, we have started a new relationship
with Richard E. who is an expert in the Lithium Battery industry.
Our Green Shed shop is proud to announce that the FIRST EV converted
and shipped to Kappa, Hawaii has arrived and is being proudly
driven by its owner Sam.

As the price of gas is going up so has interest in Electric cars.
Grassroots EV goal has been to help people make the change gas
to electric as easy and fast as possible. We can now supply most
of the parts, help with any part of a conversion, or supply an
all electric conversion" ready to drive.
This year has started off with me moving some of my operation
to a new work place I call the green shed ". This
wonderful building was built buy a boat builder, in the middle
of a beautiful wooded area. I now have a place where we can
work on your car or truck out of the rain and sun, without bothering
neighbors or the city.
Another focus this year will be on people starting conversion
shops around the country, helping people who want to start businesss
converting cars and trucks to electric and linking them together.
Lets trade video, send me a video
of your EV project with permission to duplicate it and I'll
send you a CD-ROM. Your Project could become our project
of the month just call to find out how
Letter
from the President of the Grassroots EV Club
March 31, 2002
Two weeks after the 9/11 tragedy
sales of our video tapes of Electric Vehicle conversions hit
the roof. I had been dragging my feet on my EV Porsche 924
conversion but 9/11 renewed my commitment and the Porsche
was on the road the next day. If there was any doubt what
foreign oil is doing to our country 9/11 was a bell ringer.
What are you willing to give up to keep foreign oil out of
America? By converting a gas vehicle to electric you recycle
a gas burner and help America become independent of foreign
oil. I am expanding this operation. Three people have stepped
forward to help. Jon who set up this web site and is now driving
an EV Mitsubishi conversion will be helping with sales and
promotions. Yvette who is now making and editing the EV videos,
and Dan who is showing me what a real car mechanic can do
and helping with the current Mazda pick up truck project.
They have shown me the importance of group participation as
each one brings something new to the table. Buying an EV video,
book or having your auto converted to electric will pump life
into this grassroots movement,
waiting for somebody else to do it won't.
We incorporated grassrootsev.com and have stocks available
for anyone who is interested in becoming a serious part of
our organization.
I am opening my shop doors to people who need help with their
EV projects for $50/hour. We will take monthly payments on
labor and if you can't do that but still need help we'll work
something out. I am always happy to give someone a ride in
one of my EV conversions. The main objective of the Florida
Electric Vehicle Club is to let as many people as possible
experience driving an EV, and to share what we have learned
about converting gas vehicles to electric.
We have a great deal on 9" motors which are ideal for
car conversions just click on the catalog. Anyone who purchases
a motor from us will also get a "Convert Your Vehicle
to Electric" Video.

One of my main agendas of the Fort
Pierce Electric Car Club is to let as many people as possible
experience what driving an electric car is like, and to
share my knowledge and help convert gas cars to electric. In
1994, I converted a VW, my first EV, and it worked so well,
I started using it for my business, towing a 1500 lb. trailer,
and driving about 25 miles a day. Since then, I've converted
a Mercury Lynx, Ford Ranger, Hyundai XL, and a Mitsubishi.
In April, 2000, I organized my own electric car show/rally
at the local Discount Auto Parts store in Ft. Pierce, FL,
where we had several cars on display drawing a crowd.
How much, how difficult, and how long will it take to convert
a gas car to electric? To answer these questions, and to show
the conversion process, I've made videos of all my conversions
(five so far), showing several different ways to make adapter
plates, battery boxes, meters, motor mounts, and lots more.
To help sell this 2 1/2 hr. tape, I packed it with various
other topics such as music lessons, cooking tips, etc., anything
that I thought would be of interest. How about adding footage
to my collection of your conversion or specialty? Each video
includes a ticket, giving you a chance at winning a conversion.
I want to help as many people as possible to convert their
car to electric, so let's not let anything stand in the way
of your project. If you can tell me what you want the car
or truck to do, i.e. how far, how fast, or what tools you
have, i.e. welder, torch, I can tell you what your going to
need. If you're in the area, you can test-drive my conversion.
I'm offering the video and/or ticket for $10. With each
ticket you also get discounts at local participating businesses
in Ft. Pierce, and all the money raised from this goes towards
parts for another conversion, which will then be given away
at the 2001' EV rally in Ft. Pierce on April 28, the Saturday
following Earth Day.
I need to sell 500 videos/tickets to raise $5000 to buy
the parts to make a very nice conversion. So far, I've got
the car body and electric motor, however, there are still
lots of parts to be paid for and I'm counting on people who
care about the environment to help meet this goal. Get your
tickets now, and watch your $10 recycle a polluting gas car
into a clean EV.
Are you among this list of names who are
eligible at winning a conversion?

The Conservative
Driver Contest
How far can you drive on $.01 penny of electricity, one
mile? To enter you need to purchase a ticket for $10. Each
contestant will drive around Orange Blossom Mall in Ft.
Pierce, and when the meter in the car says $.01 penny of
electricity has been used, we turn the car off and coast
to a stop, measuring the distance the contestant has driven.
At the end of each month, the contestant that drove the
furthest wins. First place wins 10 tickets, second place
wins 5, and third wins 2. The tickets make you eligible
to enter the electric car conversion give-away in April
2001.
