Hybrids and Generators

Positive aspects of generators.
No waiting (if your generator is powerful enough) for your batteries to charge you can fill up the fuel tank at the gas station just like gas guzzlers.
Electric backup encase of power failures or if no plugs are available you still have power for lights, power tools or appliances. Fuel efficiency can be better than a typical gas car.
Negative aspects of generators.
Exhaust can be worse than typical gas vehicle that have catalytic converters but not worse than older models without or if you use an alternative fuel like LP gas
Added expense, For example;typically gas get 20 miles for $2; electric gets 100 miles for $2
Added weight and the power you definitely want to have 220 volt output for when your charge is gone you have to run directly from the generator A 220lb 5kw may get you up to 35 mph A 400lb 10kw maybe 60mph your charger has to put out 35 to 75 a/h
Noise you'll go from a wonderfully silent EV to a ragged engine noise. The unit maybe pounding away even when you are stopped at a light. It is REALLY annoying.

The 7kW Kohler genset the trailer's small tires add drag to the car. It would add about 20% to the power consumption at 60 mph.
On the roof Honda SX200 6.5HP output 4500watts/90v 50amps/ 12v 20 amps
Honda Insight is the most gas efficient car on the market 55 to 75 mpg.
You can't plug it in. can only utilize 12volt power output.
